Stephen Field grew up in Arizona and California with Philadelphia only distantly on his radar. But after his sister went to Bryn Mawr College in the 1980s, he thought he’d give the East Coast a look.

Then, Field said, “life intervened.” He met his now-wife, and come 2010, they were living on the fourth floor of the Larkin condominiums in Logan Square.

Now they are moving to a larger condo in a building where his wife owns a unit.

Field, a travel agent and retired health-care marketing executive, said he was particularly attracted to the walkability of the Larkin unit.

“There are grocery stores right outside the door,” he said, and “restaurants, the Parkway.”

The 1,191-square-foot corner unit, with two bedrooms and 1½ bathrooms, has a view of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the Center City skyline to the northeast.

Built in 1900, it has high ceilings, oversize windows, and many original architectural details.

The original primary bedroom has been set up as a home office and media room with multiple exposures.

The spa-styled bathroom has a sink vanity with a glass-enclosed walk-in shower.

The kitchen has updated appliances, granite countertops, and an island.

The second bedroom has a double-door closet, oversize powder room, and skyline views.

The unit includes on-site garage parking, a 24-hour attendant, and a fitness center.

Public transportation is easily accessible, as are Trader Joe’s, Giant, the Schuylkill River Trail, the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University campuses, major hospitals, and 30th Street Station.

The unit is in the Greenfield School Catchment.

It is listed by Andy Oei of BHHS Fox & Roach at the Harper for $550,000.
