The four-bedroom, 2½-bath Cape Cod house in New Britain Borough was built in 1959. But Mike Ward said “it takes you back to another time.”

With a dense tree canopy, “It feels like you’re in the woods,” he said.

Mike and his wife, Erin, bought the house in 2022 after living in a townhouse in Holland, wanting more room for themselves and their son who is now 9 months old.

But Erin, an influencer marketer, and Mike, who is in logistics for the U.S. Department of Defense, are moving again to a larger place, four minutes away in Chalfont, which also brings them closer to Mike’s family.

Erin liked that the 2,484-square foot house isn’t quite a traditional Cape Cod and she liked the warm feel of the neighborhood. While the house was in good shape when they bought it, the Wards did considerable work on it, much of it by Mike and his father, a carpenter.

They replaced the roof, installed new air-conditioning and a water filtration system, updated the electrical panel, and leveled the backyard, which is fully fenced, to allow for an aboveground pool.

The updated kitchen has quartz countertops, white cabinetry, and recessed and pendant lighting. A bay window offers views of the backyard and lets in abundant natural light. And the three-season sunroom also has views of the backyard.

The primary bedroom is on the first floor, with large walk-in closets and a full bath. The second floor has three bedrooms and a hall bath.

The house has a two-car garage and an unfinished basement. It is close to schools, parks, shopping, and dining.

It is listed by Annie Hall of Long and Foster Real Estate for $650,000.
