When he moved into the Peninsula at Waterfront Square condos in 2022, David Smith planned to combine his unit with the one above it so his four young adult children and their families could visit.

But when the adjacent unit went on the market, he decided on a horizontal expansion rather than a vertical one, so he is selling the 1,615-square-foot unit above rather than moving in.

The Northern Liberties development was started in 2006 and now comprises three buildings. It is a gated community, with a 24/7 guard and a concierge.

The two-bedroom, 2½-bath unit for sale has unobstructed views of the Ben Franklin Bridge in one direction and the Delaware River in another. “You have this peaceful view of the river going by, the ships and sailboats,” Smith said.

The entrance has 10-foot ceilings, and the open-concept kitchen has a large window, Carrara marble countertops, and state-of-the-art appliances, including a built-in wine fridge.

The primary bedroom has a large walk-in closet with built-in shelves and a safe.

The bathrooms have custom tilework and premium fixtures, and the primary bathroom has an eight-jetted tub.

The unit has new wide-plank flooring installed throughout.

A large laundry closet houses a full-size washer and dryer.

An aboveground garage is shared by the three buildings, with guaranteed space for all residents. Other amenities include a pool, river deck, fitness center, sauna, and community rooms.

Smith, who is in financial services, said commercial development around the condos has grown rapidly in recent years. Another benefit of the location, he said: “I’m an $8 Uber ride to anywhere in the city.”

The unit is listed by Stephanie Gross of BHHS Fox & Roach at the Harper for $799,000.
