House of the Week: A fully renovated three-bedroom house in Port Richmond for $335,000

“We took everything down from scratch except the walls and roof,” said the homeowner, an electrician who did much of the renovation.

The roof and the walls were all that Bledar Hebeja needed to get started.

He had been living in a variety of places in Port Richmond for some 20 years after emigrating from Albania, comfortable among other Albanians who had moved there in previous years. Some of them he had known in Albania.

But in 2017, in the shell of a three-bedroom house, he could see something permanent.

So Hebeja, an electrician, worked with other craftspeople to built a new house for himself, his wife, Blerta, and their daughter, now 13.

“We took everything down from scratch except the walls and roof,” he said.

Now the Hebejas are moving to the King of Prussia area for professional reasons. Blerta, a tax preparer, can work from anywhere, and Bledar thinks he will get more jobs in that area.

The two-story renovated house has three bedrooms, 1½ baths, a finished basement, a front porch, and a private rear yard. There are hardwood floors and custom iron-rod railings throughout.

The first floor has the living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, and half bath. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and a microwave, and there is a large patio.

The three bedrooms are on the second floor.

The finished basement can serve as a home gym, office, or den.

The HVAC, plumbing, and electric are all new.

The 1,560-square-foot house is close to I-95, public transportation, and a varied array of restaurants and bars.

It is listed by Jurgen Aliaj of Long & Foster Real Estate for $335,000.
