House of the week: A three-bedroom rowhouse in Point Breeze for $369,000
The 1,820-square-foot house was built in 1925 and is close to parks including Wharton Square and Columbus Park.
There is nothing unconventional about Bjorn Henriques’ latest move, it’s just that he expresses it more artfully than most.
“We came as two,” he said, “and left as three and a possibility.”
Henriques, digital sales manager for a major TV station, and his wife, Rachel, an elementary schoolteacher, were living in an apartment in West Philadelphia when they bought their three-bedroom, two-bath rowhouse in Point Breeze in 2020.
“It was the perfect little house,” said Henriques, who is also a board member of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
“My wife loved it, loved the kitchen,” he said. “It was a nice neighborhood with a community feel,” and an easy commute to his job in Center City from the nearby Ellsworth-Federal SEPTA station.
But now, with a 2-year-old and a second child on the way, the family has moved to a larger house in Brookhaven in Delaware County.
The Point Breeze house has an open-concept living room with hardwood floors; recessed lighting; a gas-powered, marble-and-wood fireplace; and a separate dining area.
The kitchen has ample cabinet space, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. And there is a fenced-in patio.
The three bedrooms are upstairs with a bathroom.
There is a fully-finished basement, with two wall-to-wall closets with built-in shelving, laundry, and a tiled full bathroom.
Parks, including Wharton Square and Columbus Park, are nearby, along with a wide variety of stores and schools.
The house was built in 1925 and has a total square footage of 1,820.
It is listed by Anthony Castaneda of Opus Elite Real Estate for $369,000.
