While the house’s setting is rural, the bustle of downtown Media is only minutes away.

It was one of the more unusual ways to buy real estate.

Friends of Theresa and Chuck Mulloy owned the three-bedroom, 2½-bath center hall Colonial just outside Media and “we talked them into selling it to us,” Theresa joked.

This was almost exactly 30 years ago, and what the Mulloys got was a scenic, 2,146-square-foot home built in 1980 on 1.23 acres.

Theresa, who works in insurance, said that Chuck, who has an auto repair shop in Newtown Square, had grown up on a small property in Drexel Hill and was intrigued by the more spacious surroundings of land once occupied by the original Wawa dairy farm.

But now, with their two children grown, the Mulloys are downsizing in Aston.

The house has a circular floor plan that features a first-floor fireside family room and powder room.

Entrance to the center hall is through a covered patio, and the living room has a large picture window offering a view of the grounds.

The original dining room has been used as an office, and the kitchen has off-white cabinets, granite countertops, and a breakfast nook with a bay window.

All three bedrooms are on the second level. The primary suite has a walk-in closet and a bathroom with double sinks and a deep whirlpool tub.

The second full bath, with a stall shower, laundry room, and stairs to the yard, is in the finished basement.

There is a two-car, heated garage with inside access as well as two full attics.

Theresa noted that while the house’s setting is rural, the bustle of downtown Media is only minutes away, and there is easy access to I-95, Route 1, and a Regional Rail station.

The house is in the Rose Tree-Media School District.

It is listed by Janice Goldhorn-Geraghty of RE/MAX Preferred – Newtown Square for $680,000.
