Looking for their first house after renting in Media, Robin and Mike Mulherin were struck by the traffic constantly moving past the four-bedroom center hall Colonial across from South Ardmore Park.

“There were people walking by constantly with their dogs,” said Robin, a dentist.

Mike, who works in finance for Wawa, liked that the house was recently renovated and in move-in condition. The couple eventually added a deck, updated the landscaping, and put in fencing for their chocolate lab mix.

The Lower Merion School District was also an attraction, as the Mulherins have a 7-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son, and Robin’s brother and sister-in-law were living in the neighborhood.

The 2,548-square-foot house was built in 1950 and has two full and two half-bathrooms. The couple bought it in 2016.

The formal living room has hardwood floors, a wood-burning fireplace, custom window treatments, and a powder room.

The dining room opens into a renovated kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and ample cabinet space.

There is an enclosed sunroom/mudroom off the kitchen, and a separate family room leading to the fenced yard and the deck.

The four bedrooms are on the second floor — all with custom closets with built-ins — a hallway bathroom, attic access, and hardwood floors.

The primary suite bathroom has a double sink, vanity, and tiled walk-in shower with glass doors.

The finished basement has a second powder room, laundry, and ample storage space that could be converted for entertaining, a playroom, an office, or a gym.

The house has easy access to Suburban Square, downtown Ardmore, and public transit.

It is listed by Sarah Freedman of Compass real estate for $885,000.
