Kimberly Jarosiewicz remembers the day in 2017 that she and her husband, Pete, bought their Colonial in the Huntingdon Valley section of Lower Moreland.

“It was St. Paddy’s Day,” recalls Kimberly, who is of Irish descent.

The couple, who had been living in Fox Chase, had looked for years for a house in the Lower Moreland School District for their growing family, now four children.

Kimberly, a seventh-grade social studies teacher, and Pete, who is in production control for the Navy, both love old houses. The three-bedroom, two-bath house, probably built in the 1930s, “had so much charm,” Kimberly says.

An artist had previously lived there, she says, and the den with its high ceilings and built-in shelves was an attraction in unanticipated ways: It was a perfect place for virtual teaching when COVID-19 kept Kimberly out of the classroom.

Now, with the children growing older and larger, the family needs more space and will move elsewhere in the school district.

“Now that they’re their own people, they need more space,” Kimberly says.

The living room has recessed lighting, and the dining room has built-in bookcases. Both have hardwood floors.

The kitchen has granite countertops, a gas range, recessed lighting, and a breakfast nook.

The family room also has custom bookcases and a recently remodeled full bath.

The bedrooms are on the second floor, and all have hardwood floors and ceiling fans.

There is a full basement and detached garage.

A new roof was put on in 2019, and the HVAC, furnace, and water heater were replaced in 2021.

The property is conveniently close to shopping, restaurants, schools, parks, and major highways.

Total square footage is 1,500.

The house is listed by Brian Gunn of Keller Williams Langhorne for $399,000.
