Garden Logan remembers her first reaction to the Fishtown brownstone: “When I walked into the house, the gold leaf mirror and marble mantel took my breath away. It was as if the house was frozen in time.”

She and her husband, George, “fell in love with the grandeur and spirit of the house,” she said.

Her mom, who raised her in a more modest house in the Northwood section of Frankford, was less enthusiastic, remembering Fishtown’s grittier days.

Garden said jokingly that “she clutched her pearls when she learned we were moving to Fishtown.”

It was 2002, and the Logans, who had recently gotten married, saw it as the ideal place to raise a family and did just that. Their three children were born and raised while they lived there.

But now Garden, a public relations consultant, and George, a mason turned general contractor, are moving to Haddonfield, Camden County, seeking a quieter lifestyle. “We know loads of people over there,” Garden said.

The house, built in 1920, has four bedrooms, two full baths, and two half baths, with total square footage of 2,730.

A small fifth bedroom has been converted into a laundry room. The larger bedrooms can all accommodate king-size beds, and the house is rich in period details.

The brick facade leads into a foyer and then a sitting room with mahogany wainscoting and 10-foot ceilings with the original plaster crown molding.

The great room has ample space for a family room or dining room, and the kitchen, renovated in 2020 by George, has upgraded appliances, ceiling-height cabinets, and quartz countertops.

The first floor includes a full bath and pantry.

The second floor has the four bedrooms, one with a view of the Philadelphia skyline.

There are also 1,000 square feet of partially finished basement with two cedar storage closets, a kitchenette, and a half bath.

A one-year home warranty is included.

The house is listed by John Ecclestone of Keller Williams Philadelphia for $759,900.
