House of the week: A six-bedroom Victorian in West Mount Airy for $749,900
The large home features multiple outdoor spaces, including a wraparound porch, and an updated kitchen.
The six-bedroom, 3 ½-bath Victorian in West Mount Airy has been a pleasant interlude for Patrick Vacca and Jesse Hein between two stays in Fishtown.
They moved from Fishtown when they bought it in 2021, updated it, and are now returning to Fishtown to be closer to Vacca’s work in restaurant financing in Old City. Hein, who is in digital marketing, works from home.
“We just stumbled on it,” Hein said. “We loved the green space.”
The property includes front, rear, and side yards that get sun all day. It has herb beds, trees, and native plants, and has a wraparound front porch with shaded and unshaded areas, and second-floor terrace. The yards also include a garden shed, and fieldstone fire pit.
There is a six-car driveway and space to add a garage.
Inside the 3,667-square-foot home, there is a large kitchen that opens to the dining room with stainless steel appliances, wine fridge, Insinkerator disposal, Shaker-style cabinetry, a refrigerator/freezer with French doors, and a convection double wall oven.
There are barn wood, top nail oak, and pine hardwood floors throughout the house along with small, elegant details like crystal door knobs, recessed lights, wood doors, matte black faucets, and a stained-glass window.
The primary bedroom has a full bath with two walk-in closets, a rainfall shower head, a copper tub, and double sinks.
There is heated flooring in a bedroom used as an office.
There is 200-amp electrical service and two-zone gas heat, as well as a wood-burning fireplace.
Vacca and Hein don’t know the exact age of the home but believe it dates back to the late 19th century.
The house is a half block from the Carpenter Lane Regional Rail station, and close to Wissahickon Valley Park, Lovett Library, a dog park, playing fields, and pickleball and tennis courts.
It is listed by Tim Owen of Compass Realty for $749,900.
