On the market: A two-bedroom townhouse with Philly skyline views for $585,000
The 1,623-square-foot townhouse is in Southwest Center City, also know as the Graduate Hospital neighborhood.
Living in a high-rise in Jenkintown more than a decade ago, Jim Kuter loved the views of the city.
“I thought it would be nice to live in the middle of that,” he recalls. “Center City, Old City, the Art Museum.”
And after a year of looking, he settled on a 1900-vintage warehouse in the Graduate Hospital area that had been converted to townhouses in the 1980s.
“It was a little bit different,” says Kuter, an electrical engineering manager who designs robotic semiconductor equipment. “It has a third-floor deck with a view of the skyline. It’s 40 feet from my dining room to the skylight.”
But last April, he married Suzanne McKenna, a paralegal living in Allentown, and they will be moving to the Lehigh Valley.
“I love this area,” he says, “but I love her more.”
The Graduate Hospital-area house has two bedrooms and three baths. It is three stories with a fully finished basement and square footage of 1,623.
Behind the historic brick facade is a living room with hardwood floors, 14-foot ceilings, and a versatile layout opening into the dining area and kitchen. The skylight extends to the rear of the home.
The downstairs level has a full bathroom, laundry, and storage and could be used for living or work space.
The second floor has a large bedroom that could be converted to two rooms and a full bath.
The third-floor primary suite has cathedral ceilings, a wall of built-in storage, an en suite bathroom, and a deck.
Across the street is a large community garden maintained by the neighbors.
The house is listed by Andy Oei and Lauri Mufson of BHHS Fox & Roach at the Harper, Rittenhouse Square, for $585,000.
