House of the week: A three-bedroom twin on a quiet Roxborough street for $315,000
The three-bedroom, 1½-bath house is on a secluded street that has no through traffic.
When their first child was on the way, Dori and Chad Cross found that the ample natural light and garden space in their home helped make the twin on a quiet street in Roxborough a perfect fit.
“It’s a tight-knit community where everyone knows each other,” Chad said.
It was a first house for the couple, architects who work together and specialize in health-care facilities, after renting in South Philadelphia and Fairmount.
But now they are headed for Wayne to work and live near Chad’s parents. His father founded the firm Charles Cross Architecture and practices there.
The three-bedroom, 1½-bath Philly house, which they bought in 2019, is on a secluded street that has no through traffic. Chad said he thinks it was built in the 1880s.
“There’s a good amount of southern exposure,” Dori said. “I like to grow things,” including perennial flowers and herbs and annual vegetables.
The house has a covered front porch, wood floors, and new vinyl tile flooring in the kitchen and mudroom.
Updates include new 200-amp electrical service, LED lighting, and new central air.
The kitchen has plenty of counter space, and behind it are the laundry room and mudroom, a half-bath, and doors to the side and rear yards.
The bedrooms are on the second floor, with one being used as an office. The upstairs bathroom was updated with a new shower/tub in 2019 and reglazed tile this year.
The house is near Gorgas Park and convenient to restaurants and shopping on Main Street Manayunk, the Schuylkill River Trail, and Wissahickon Park. The commute to Center City is easy.
The house is listed by Tracy Pulos, BHHS Fox & Roach Wayne-Devon, for $315,000.
