As soon as you open the front door to Teisa and Albert Brown’s house in Wayne, you see straight through to the large backyard.

This, Teisa said, was one of the main selling points for the three-bedroom, three-bath split-level Colonial, along with curb appeal, neighborhood socioeconomic diversity, and the Upper Merion School District, where the youngest of their three children would attend school.

This was in 2010, when the couple, both Philadelphia natives, moved there from Havertown.

But now it’s time for Teisa, an administrator at a private school, and Albert, a retired SEPTA bus driver and transportation manager, to retire to Florida.

The house, which is in the Bob White Farms section of Wayne, has a well-landscaped front yard and an open-concept layout, with a living room featuring a large bay window and a brick fireplace.

The updated kitchen has a breakfast bar, which opens to a dining room with sliding glass doors leading to the rear patio.

There is a gas stove, wine cooler, microwave, tall wood cabinets, and ample counter space.

Wood floors have been preserved under the carpeted areas.

Bedrooms are on the upper level, and the lower level has a fully furnished rec room with a built-in speaker system, with daylight windows, and access to a separate laundry. A full bathroom there could allow uses including an office, au pair suite, in-law quarters, or a media room.

There is an attached garage and the semicircular driveway has room for four cars. Total square footage is 1,866.

The house is minutes from the King of Prussia Mall and major arteries including Routes 30, 476, 202, and the turnpike.

The house is listed by Mary Louise Butler of Elfant Wissahickon-Chestnut Hill for $499,900.
