Watch: Raptors’ Kawhi Leonard sinks game-winner to beat Sixers in Game 7
The shot bounced four times before falling in.
Kawhi Leonard launched a last-second jumper from the baseline that bounced on the rim as time expired. And then it fell in.
The shot ended the Sixers’ season and gave the Raptors the 92-90 Game 7 win.
Watch here:
The shot was eerily similar to the one Vince Carter missed in 2001. Allen Iverson and the Sixers beat the Raptors in seven games, then beat the Bucks in the Eastern Conference Finals to advance to face the Lakers in the NBA finals.
That was the last time the Sixers made an Eastern Conference Finals.
Naturally, fans and observers were in shock.
And despite Leonard’s stoic nature …
… the Raptors star celebrated on the court with his teammates in a similar way to Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers after Lillard sunk a shot over the heads of the Thunder to send them home in a Game 7.
One fan got creative with the video, syncing it up with another famous sports moment.
And it wouldn’t be a Sunday night in 2019 without a Game of Thrones joke.
