NBA All-Star Game to feature four-team tourney, showcasing All-Stars and Rising Stars champion
The 24 players selected will be divided into three eight-player teams. The fourth squad will feature the Rising Stars champions.
The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association will unveil a new format for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game in San Francisco.
Instead of a single game, the event will feature a four-team tournament with three games on Feb. 16 at the Chase Center.

The 24 players selected will be divided into three eight-player teams. The fourth squad will feature the Rising Stars champion. Two teams will compete in the first semifinal and the other squads will compete in the second. The winners will advance to the championship game.
TNT’s Inside the NBA commentators Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith will serve as honorary team general managers. Candace Parker, a TNT analyst and three-time WNBA champion, will be the honorary general manager of the Rising Stars team, called Team Candace.
Barkley, a former 76er, Smith, and O’Neal will conduct an NBA All-Star draft and select players for Team Chuck, Team Kenny, and Team Shaq on Inside the NBA on Feb. 6.
The Rising Stars challenge, which will be held on Feb. 14 as part of All-Star Weekend, is the annual showcase of select first- and second-year NBA players and NBA G League standouts.

The four All-Star Game head coaches will come from the coaching staffs of the teams with the best regular-season records in their respective conferences in games played through Feb. 2. The head coaches of the Eastern and Western Conference’s best teams will coach a team. Assistants from those staffs will coach the remaining All-Star team and the Rising Stars champion.
