Mike Scott gushes about his love for Philly after a Sixers fan honors him with a tattoo
"They embrace me, I embrace them," the first-year Sixer says. "I feel like I’m one of them.”
One of the newest members of the Sixers has seen enough.
“I’ve never had fans like this since probably UVA,” said Scott, who starred in college at the University of Virginia before moving on to a pro career that has included stops in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Atlanta. "As far as I’ve been in the league? Best fans. No disrespect to Atlanta, Clippers and D.C., but I’ve never had fans like this. I love it. They embrace me, I embrace them. I feel like I’m one of them.”
His comments came after a Sixers fan revealed on Twitter that he had gotten a tattoo in honor of Scott on his rib cage.
The fan in question had pledged to get a tattoo if he reached 1,000 followers. Apparently, he is a man of his word. Scott, the heavily-tatted three-point specialist who shares a name with Steve Carell’s character from the NBC sitcom The Office, was humbled by the honor.
After practice on Wednesday, Scott said he had secured the fan tickets to Game 3 on Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center.
“It’s going to be crazy," Scott said. "I know it’s going to be loud. I’m just trying to amp them up. ... Our fans are going to be wild, going nuts, talking their [crap], cheering, hopefully booing the hell out of the other team and hopefully holding us down.”
