The 76ers plan to sign forward D.J. Wilson to a 10-day contract, a league source confirmed to The Inquirer Wednesday afternoon.

Although the Sixers do have an open roster spot, Wilson’s signing may not occur for a few days. That means it may come after the expiration of the current 10-day deal for big man Kai Jones, who signed on March 15 but suffered a strained hamstring while playing with the G League’s Delaware Blue Coats.

Wilson has spent this season with the G League’s Osceola Magic in Florida, averaging 19.4 points on 55.6% shooting, 9.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.5 blocks. The 6-foot-10 Wilson was a first-round pick out of Michigan by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2017.

Wilson has played in 146 NBA games, most recently with Sixers coach Nick Nurse’s Toronto Raptors for four games in 2021-22. He spent his first three-plus seasons with the Bucks organization, then played in 23 games with the Houston Rockets in 2020-21. He has averaged 4.4 points on 41.9% shooting and 3.1 rebounds in 12.3 minutes as an NBA player.
