Joel Embiid was ejected with 2 minutes, 59 seconds remaining in the first half the Sixers’ game against the San Antonio Spurs Monday night after arguing an offensive-foul call and charging after a referee.

The 76ers center was called for the foul when he collided with Spurs center Victor Wembanyama on his way to the basket. Unhappy with the call, Embiid went over to referee Jenna Schroeder to voice his displeasure. The 7-foot-2, 280-pounder lost his cool and had to restrained by teammates, coaches, and staff members while charging after Schroeder.

Embiid finished with nine points on 2-for-8 shooting to go along with three rebounds, one assist, and three fouls in 14:22 of playing time.

Reserve center Andre Drummond had an ejection earlier in the game overturned.

Drummond was ejected after appearing to make minimum contact with Wembanyama, who flopped. This came moments after Drummond shoved the Spurs center twice to the floor while trying to get defensive position. Drummond received a technical foul after the second foul. Drummond said something to Wembanyama during a break in action, then right before play resumed, Wembanyama fell to the floor, leading to Drummond’s ejection.

But the referees reversed the ejection and gave the Spurs standout an non-unsportsmanlike flopping penalty. Drummond, who was in the locker room, ran back onto the court. Then moments later, the technical foul shot that Tyrese Maxey made on the nonsportmanlike play was taken off the scoreboard. The refs also rescinded Wembanyama’s technical foul.
