Danny Green gives the Sixers lockdown D and clutch threes in a crucial win over the Knicks | Best/worst

NEW YORK — It was ugly, but for the Sixers, that’s better than a pretty loss.

The 76ers defeated the New York Knicks, 101-100, in overtime Sunday night at Madison Square Garden. Players might dread watching the film.

Here’s a look at the best and worst performances:

Danny Green gets this. The Sixers small forward excelled as a two-way player and stepped up in the clutch. He finished with a game-high three blocks and tied for a game-high five steals. Green also scored all 11 of his points during the fourth quarter and overtime. Six of his points came on 2-for-3 shooting from three in overtime.

Obi Toppin of the Knicks gets this. He gets it only because Tobias Harris scored the go-ahead foul shots to give the Sixers the victory. Harris had 20 points but struggled mightily, missing open shots and turning the ball over. He even missed what would have been a pair of game-winning foul shots in overtime. But he erased those miscues with his overtime free throws.

Toppin was a game-worst minus-7 in his 6 minutes, 51 seconds of action. His lack of defense or production didn’t warrant more minutes.

Green get this one, too.

This goes to the Knicks’ foul shooting. They made just 13 of 23 foul shots for 56.5%.

This goes to the Knicks’ three-point shooting. They made 11 of 24 threes, 45.8%.

Sunday’s win marked the Sixers’ 15th straight victory against the Knicks. It’s the longest current winning streak by an NBA team against a particular opponent.
