Sixers takeaways: Caleb Martin continues to emerge, Paul George shines and more
NEW YORK – Paul George appears to get joy just from competing.
When Joel Embiid is in rhythm, he’s the NBA’s most unstoppable player. And Caleb Martin continues to show why he’s a great addition to the 76ers.
Those three things stood out in the Sixers’ 123-94 victory Saturday night at the Barclays Center.

George has struggled to make shots, lately. And this night was no different from beyond the three-point line. But the nine-time All-Star appeared unfazed. George was preoccupied with his defensive assignments and trying to step teammates up for easy baskets. His unselfish play has been a bonus for the Sixers.
It also has enabled him to impact games when his shot isn’t falling.

No matter what the Nets tried, they could not stop the 7-foot-2, 280-pounder. He scored 15 of his 28 points on 6 of 9 shooting. He also grabbed seven of his 12 rebounds while playing the entire quarter. Brooklyn could not prevent him from getting to his spots and keeping him off the board as Embiid scored at will.

Martin lights up the first half
The Sixers and their fanbase had high expectations for Martin after he signed with the team this summer. But injuries early on prevented him from playing to his full potential.
While he’s still battling minor injuries, the forward has been excelling recently.
The forward was perfect in the first half against the Nets. He had 17 points on 7-for-7 shooting – including making two three-pointers and would end with that total.
