U.S. has best odds to win 2023 Women’s World Cup, big favorites to win opening game vs. Vietnam
The Americans are slim favorites over England to win the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
A month from Tuesday, the 2023 Women’s World Cup will begin from Australia and New Zealand, with nine host cities and 10 stadiums across the two countries.
A trio of games will take place on July 20, beginning with New Zealand taking on Norway to kick off the World Cup, followed by Australia facing the Republic of Ireland and concluding with Nigeria and Canada facing off.
The United States Women’s National team will play its first match on July 21, facing Vietnam in its opening game in Group E. The Netherlands and Portugal round out the four-team group.
The USWNT have won each of the last two World Cups, defeating the Netherlands in 2019 and Japan in 2015. Since 1991, the Americans have finished inside the top three of every women’s World Cup, finishing third three times (1995, 2003, 2007) and runner-up just once (2011).
Rosters won’t be finalized until July 10, but the odds to win the World Cup are already live, and as no surprise, the USWNT is the favorite to win its third straight World Cup at BetMGM.
Here’s a look at the odds to win the Cup among the 32-team field.

At the top of the board, the USWNT are slim favorites to win the World Cup at +225, with England not far behind at 3/1 odds to win. Spain (+600), Germany (+600), France (+900), and Australia (+1000) round out the six teams with 10/1 odds or better to win the World Cup. There’s a large gap between those six squads and the rest of the field.
In their group, the Americans are heads and shoulders above their competition with the Netherlands, the 2019 World Cup runner-up, at 25/1 odds, Portugal at 100/1 odds, and Vietnam at 500/1 odds to win the Cup.
