Kacper Przybylko, Paxten Aaronson score to give Union 2-1 win over FC Cincinnati

It was the Union’s first win on the road since May 23.

CINCINNATI — Kacper Przybylko and 18-year-old Paxten Aaronson scored to help the Philadelphia Union beat FC Cincinnati, 2-1, on Saturday night.

Matt Freese tied his career high with five saves for the Union (12-7-9, 45 points).

It was the Union’s first win on the road since beating D.C. United, 2-1, on May 23. They went 0-4-5 in the nine games since.

Przybylko blasted a rising shot from the center of the area to give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead in first-half stoppage time. It was his 15th goal in all competitions this season.

Aaronson headed home a cross from 20-year-old right back Nathan Harriel, another academy product, to cap the scoring in the 56th minute.

Cincinnati (4-16-8, 20 points) was eliminated from playoff contention. It has lost six in a row.

Philadelphia is unbeaten, with four wins, in its last five games.
