The billing of the Bills vs. Jets MNF opener is that of two elite quarterbacks going head-to-head in what’s Aaron Rodgers’ first regular season game as the New York quarterback. Interestingly enough, Rodgers and the Jets are slight +110 home underdogs.

Buffalo is a slight -130 favorite in a game that has just a 1.5-point spread. This is a game with a modest totals market of 45.5 points, which feels like it could be low given the high-octane offenses we could see on first instinct.

But I think 45.5 points could actually be a realistic number, as the Bills’ first-team offense looked shaky in preseason and Rodgers only attempted four passes in his first preseason with New York.

In the 15 opening week games played, just three exceeded 45.5 combined points. When you consider the fact that Buffalo and New York combined for just 37.7 points per game allowed in 2022 as two of the top five scoring defenses in the NFL, this could be a lower scoring game.
