At 2 a.m., Villanova’s Patrick Tiernan (left) competes in his third Olympic Games — this time in his longest race yet, the marathon. Tiernan, who runs for Australia, is out for redemption after collapsing in his final race in Tokyo.

Penn State’s Zain Retherford (left) competes in the preliminary round of the 65-kilogram freestyle tournament for Team USA against Iran's Rahman Amouzad at 6:17 a.m. The former NCAA champion is competing in his first Olympic Games.

Women's soccer: USA vs. Brazil

Penn State’s Alyssa Naeher (pictured) and Sam Coffey compete for the gold medal against Brazil at 11 a.m. The win would mark Emma Hayes’ first major tournament victory as coach of the USWNT. The team won bronze at the Tokyo games.

Artistic swimming: Duet free routine

Fresh off a silver in the team event, Wilmington native Megumi Field competes in the duet free routine at 1:30 p.m. as she looks to earn her second medal in Paris. But Field and partner Jaime Czarkowski are 11th after the technical round.

Men's basketball: USA vs. France

Team USA faces host nation France for the gold medal at 3:30 p.m. The Americans were nearly upset by Serbia in the semifinals and will be playing in a hostile environment — especially Joel Embiid, who spurned France to play for Team USA.
