¡Bailar en FDR! Salsa Class and Social Dance

(Community) Grab your dancing shoes and head to Fairmount Park for a night of dancing and great vibes. No matter what your dance level is, an experienced instructor will guide prepare you with everything you need to know to hit the dance floor. Fireworks on the Waterfront

(Community) Kick of the July Fourth holiday with spectacular fireworks on the Delaware River. You can catch the show for free from multiple spots along the river including Cherry Street Pier, Race Street Pier and Washington Avenue Pier.

Philadelphia June 29th Fireworks Signature Dinner Cruise

Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival

(Community) Franklin Square’s annual festival is back and ready to celebrate the Year of the Dragon. The festival includes cultural performances, traditional Chinese food and an iconic 200-foot-long dragon. Timed tickets are required Friday through Sunday.

Bucks Fever Art & Sculpture Exhibition

(Art) Bucks County is full of rich art culture and immensely talented artists. The showcase will include pieces from artists from the Bucks Country region and beyond. This exhibition features work from a wide range of artists and sculptors, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce.

Latino Arts and Film Festival

(Movies) Both established and emerging Latino filmmakers will be celebrated for their creativity and contributions to culture. This festival lineup includes workshops, feature films, shorts, animations and so much more. Plus, celebrate the 10th annual LOLA Awards, which honors the filmmaking achievements of Latino creatives.

The best events for kids in Philly

Now that we’ve all grown accustomed to the heat, it’s time to get out there and enjoy the city — and suburbs — in all their summertime glory. Penn’s Landing opens Summerfest this week, and Wawa Welcome America puts on lots of free events leading up to the Fourth of July.

Summerfest

(Outdoors) As one roller rink closes, another opens, along with a Ferris wheel, new kiddie coaster, 18-hole mini golf, new giant swings, carnival games, and a bigger arcade, all at Penn’s Landing, where there’s almost always a breeze to keep you a bit cooler. Open daytime through evening on weekends, evenings only on weekdays. Ages 4 and up.

Firefly Walk

(Nature) Is there anything more magical at summertime than the bioluminescent insects who flash their airborne signals after dark? Wissahickon Trails presents a chance to learn about and pursue fireflies as they shine their lights at Armentrout Preserve. Ages 4 and up.

Avenue of the Arts Block Party

(Arts / free) Not exactly your neighborhood block party, this eight-hour extravaganza features three stages (two outdoors, one in the Kimmel Center), an entire section for dogs, pool and all, an already sold out noon Orchestra performance, a farmers market, a beer garden, carnival games, and a fashion show, to start. All ages.

RiverFest

All ages.

Brain Games

Garden Railway: Dinos!

(Dinosaurs / garden / multiday) An elegant Chestnut Hill botanical enclave has declared the coming months the “Summer of Dinos” at Morris Arboretum featuring a self-guided tour of prehistoric-related plants, an expansive outdoor toy train setup featuring fantastic Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, Velociraptor, etc. made out of bark, and a “paleontologist’s cottage” with fossil-digging capabilities. Ages 2 and up.
