Philly’s 113,000 students go back to school

Monday marked the start of the 2024-25 school year for 113,000 students in the Philadelphia School District. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker, Superintendent Tony B. Watlington Sr., school board president Reginald Streater and other dignitaries marked the occasion by visiting F.S. Edmonds Elementary School in East Mount Airy to greet students as they arrived.
