Pro-Palestinian protesters march in Philly ahead of first presidential debate

About 200 protesters converged onto City Hall around 7 p.m. and made their way toward the National Constitution Center, calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. Still, a slew of views on how to view the 2024 presidential election were on display.
Dozens of attendees represented the Party for Socialism and Liberation and promoted their candidate for president, while dozens more came to support the Philly Palestine Coalition directly. The latter group has yet to endorse a candidate but among the crowd, many held “Abandon Harris” signs.
Rabiul Chowdhury, co-chair of Abandon Harris PA, said the reincarnation of what was previously Abandon Biden officially launched Tuesday ahead of the debate but looks very much like previous efforts of door knocking and flier distribution, including at the Philly protests. “To be fully blunt, we are asking any president, any leaders, to stop the war, whether it's Harris, Trump, that's on the table,” said Chowdhury.
