This CHOP researcher studied 5,000 player collisions with the NFL

Kristy Arbogast, a researcher at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, convinced 98 NFL players to wear biometric mouth guards during a recent season, and then studied the data of more than 5,000 collisions. Arbogast's research has found that many players -- especially offensive and defensive linemen -- are experiencing car accident-like levels of kinetic damage while playing football.
