On the 10th consecutive dry day, the city set a record Thursday when the official temperature climbed to 74 degrees at Philadelphia International Airport.

It was the highest reading in four months, topped the 72 recorded on March 11, 1977, and was a full 23 degrees above the normal for the day.

Those who have spent more than a few Marches around here probably would not expect this to last, and it won’t.

In fact, the word snow appears in the National Weather Service forecast for early Tuesday, but it won’t be worth a milk run, says Patrick O’Hara, a meteorologist at the Mount Holly office. Any precipitation would likely be on the light side.

In the meantime, the dry run could end Friday, with highs in the 60s and a chance of showers. Those wouldn’t be unwelcome given that the weather service posted advisories about potential brush-fire hazards on Thursday.

A return to normality is due on the weekend with highs in the lows 50s, and Monday is not expected to get past the low 40s.

For those looking for snow, try Denver, where forecasters are calling for up to 2 feet during the weekend.
