Philly Style Bagels, which started as a pop-up in 2015 out of the old location of Pizzeria Beddia before opening in a Fishtown storefront in 2016, is headed to Old City.

On Thursday, March 25, Collin Shapiro and Jonathon Zilber will open an offshoot at 218 Arch St., down the block from the Betsy Ross House and near Tomo, Mulberry Market, and Chloe.

Also that day, Shapiro and Zilber will reopen the Fishtown store (1451 E. Columbia Ave., a half-block off Frankford Avenue), which closed for pandemic reasons in late January.

The Arch Street shop initially will sell bagels (”dry bagels” in bakers’ parlance) and cream cheese to go. The following week they will add spreads, bagels with spreads, and a limited sandwich menu. A week later comes the full menu.

Hours will be 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Monday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

In other Philadelphia bagel news, Nano Wheedan and Philip Korshak are awaiting a building inspection and Health Department approval of their Korshak’s Bagels at 10th and Morris Streets in South Philadelphia. Wheedan says the soonest it could open is April 4.
