Prohibition is so 80 years ago

Old City's Sassafras Bar (48 S. Second St.) celebrates the 80th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition with drink specials, live music and period costumes tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, starting at 6 p.m.

Old City's Sassafras Bar (48 S. Second St.) celebrates the 80th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition with drink specials, live music and period costumes tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, starting at 6 p.m.

From 6:30 to 9:30 p,m., patrons can enjoy live jazz and ragtime with musicians in period costume.

Five dollar drink specials for the night will include:

*Sassafras Bar's twist on classic Sailor's Punch (bourbon, apple cider, spiced syrup, bay leaves and lime)

*A secret draft from 21st Amendment Brewery

*A secret draft from Great Lakes Brewing

The bartenders will be dressed in period costume (think caps, suspenders and bow ties). Guests are encouraged to don similar prohibition style ensembles for a chance to be featured on the Sassafras Facebook page.
