The cost of draft beer at Citizens Bank Park isn’t as bad as Philadelphians say it is

If you want to sip on a regular old domestic draft beer at Citizens Bank Park, you can expect to shell out $7.75 for the privilege — one of the most expensive pours in all of baseball.

Ounce-for-ounce, though, it looks like Philadelphians are getting a pretty good deal, by ballpark standards.

Business Insider ran the numbers Tuesday to find the average cost of a single small draft beer at Major League Baseball games, along with the cost per ounce this season. And while the Phillies are tied for most expensive brew with the Red Sox and Cubs, our pour amount per beer puts us somewhat ahead of the pack.

According to the survey, the beers at Citizens Bank Park come in at 21 ounces, which makes the cost per ounce at 37 cents — the ninth cheapest in baseball, just behind the Astros and Padres.

And, what's more, the Phillies are the only other team besides the Dodgers to offer standard drafts in sizes larger than 16 ounces. So maybe remember that the next time you fire up the CBP Brew Locator to find your favorite beer.

It should, however, be noted that Business Insider obtained its numbers via each organization's "Team Marketing Report," so those pour numbers could be suspect, as Crossing Broad's Jim Adair points out.

Either way, though: Yes, you could still pick up two 40-ouncers and watch the game from home for less money. But where's the fun in that?

Oh, right — the beer.
