3 newcomers to Suburban Square
Besito, a small, upscale Mexican chain, has a deal for the former Plate.
The sounds of hammers and saws from Suburban Square in Ardmore must be deafening these days.
Not Your Average Joe's, an American grill out of New England, has Feb. 23 down as the launch date. It will go where the movie theater and American Eagle were. (This build-out is about a year late.)
Parlor, a family friendly brick-oven pizzeria from Rouge's Rob Wasserman, is in its final stages of construction where The Saint James was. Target: March 1.
And now I'll tell you about a replacement for Plate, the bistro that ended its long run nearly two years ago:
It's Besito, an upmarket mini-chain that won fairly good notice from the New York Times' Long Island edition when it opened in 2006: "There's a fiesta every night of the week here. The fun starts with the guacamole made at tableside and doesn't end till the last of the churros (warm, long spirals of fried dough rolled in cinnamon and sugar), a gratis dessert, are eaten. There are numerous standouts in between, including a luscious tortilla soup, a flavor-packed triumph with pulled white-meat chicken, avocado, cilantro and Chihuahua cheese." Besito ("little kiss") also donates toward hunger programs for children in Mexico.
They're projecting late spring/summer for the opening.
