A Center City bar has gone Rogues
T.A. Flannery's has been redone. Its chef has a white-tablecloth background.
This one has been way beneath the radar for months.
T.A. Flannery's, at 21st and Ludlow Streets, has been sold and revamped, and it's now called Rogues Gallery (11 S. 21st St., 215-561-1193, www.RoguesGalleryBar.com).
Operating under the slogan "a place to drink, eat, hang and hide," Rogues Gallery is a partnership of David Carroll (Bar Noir, Artemis and Hot Club), Michael Steinberg (hospitality and lifestyle marketing veteran), and Anthony Sembello (real estate developer).
Prices run $3 to $6 for beer and $5 to $10 for cocktails.
Chef is white-tablecloth veteran Shawn Sollberger, whom we last saw as chef at Gunners Run in Northern Liberties after turns as such posh spots as Capital Grille, Ravenna, and Davio's. His simple menu includes sandwiches, salads and blackboard entrée specials, including mac and cheese with crispy shoestring onions, a crispy chicken cutlet sandwich with provolone, spinach and garlic, and the Rogues Milan Salad with shrimp, bacon and chopped egg.
Rogues Gallery is taking the edgy approach, designing its entrance as a bullet-shaped black surround with a thick wooden door outfitted with a peek-a-boo panel. It's dimly lit with brass finishings. A back room, behind gray velvet curtains, has a small stage.
It's open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. weekdays, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
