Bad break for Bobby Rydell
He slipped on ice during a hailstorm and broke his shoulder in three places.
Singer Bobby Rydell is mending at his Main Line home after surgery to fix a shoulder he broke in three places last weekend after he fell on ice.
He and the other "Golden Boys" -- Frankie Avalon and Fabian -- played the Chinook Winds Casino Resort in Lincoln City, Ore. He played one show before the fall and one after.
As fan club president Linda Hoffman posted on Facebook, Rydell, who turns 68 at the end of the month, had a plate and screws installed to repair it.
Hoffman told me that he'll miss four shows and expects to resume performing April 18 at the Queensborough Performing Arts Center in Queens. He also has a busy May: a "Malt Shop Memories Cruise" from Tampa to Cozumel, Mexico, and then a tour of Australia
The bad shoulder is his right one, the same side as his recently replaced hip. He's lefthanded.
Earlier this month, Rydell entered a program for first-time offenders in connection with a DUI-related car crash last year.
