Chris Booker lands a job
Chris Booker, let go by Q102 last May, today signed to do afternoons in New York.
Radio host Chris Booker, let go suddenly by Q102 last May, signed a deal today to do afternoons on New York's WXRK ("K-Rock"). He starts Wednesday.
This is a homecoming for Booker, thrust in the limelight from time to time in the last year because he's the boyfriend of anchor Alycia Lane.
After starting on K-Rock's evening shift in 1996, Booker met Howard Stern, who called him "Booger" on his show and gave his career wings. Booker left K-Rock for a spell in 2003 and returned to do afternoons in 2005. He left New York for Q102 in 2006.
Q102 let him go in May, despite high ratings. (Station owner Clear Channel decided to use the cheaper syndicated services of Elvis Duran.) Sidekick Angi Taylor has since landed a job in Chicago and producer Blaire Galaton has been freelancing, planning her wedding and walking her dog. It's doubtful that either will join him in New York.
Booker, who sold his Philly condo last year, has been splitting time with Lane between his longtime Manhattan apartment (across the street from the station!) and her place here.
