Kim Strengari and Marianne Gere - who own Conshohocken's Gyspy Saloon, Stella Blu, and Southern Cross Kitchen - have bought the 34 East in Ambler's stone, century-old Wyndham Hotel (34 E. Butler Ave.).

Gypsy Blu - whose menu will include best-of dishes from Stella Blu's and Gypsy Saloon's menus - will get a quick makeover and open in mid-May.

Gypsy Blu will have outdoor dining of about 50 seats.

Strengari and Gere also own ConshyGirls Events and Catering.

The building has an almost haunted recent past. Three years ago, when it was operating as Finn McCool's Tavern, part of the wall on the Spring Garden Street side of the building collapsed, forcing the restaurant to close.

The anticipated reopening was dashed when one of the restaurant's owners, Joseph Canazaro, was found slain in his home during a home invasion.

The restaurant opened in mid-2013 as 34 East under new owners.
