Early taste of Big Gay Ice Cream
In a bit of serenDIPity, owners Bryan Petroff and Douglas Quint have just come out with a book, "Big Gay Ice Cream: Saucy Stories & Frozen Treats: Going All the Way with Ice Cream." They will sign Thursday night on South Street.
Everything looks pretty much ready at Philadelphia's own Big Gay Ice Cream shop on South Street, just east of Broad Street.
You can get a taste before the doors open.
And in a bit of what you'd call serenDIPity, owners Bryan Petroff and Douglas Quint have just come out (as in published, as in April 28) with a book, Big Gay Ice Cream: Saucy Stories & Frozen Treats: Going All the Way with Ice Cream. Anthony Bourdain wrote the foreword.
The entrepreneurs started out in 2009 with an ice cream truck in New York and expanded from a shop in New York and L.A.
They will be in Phily Thursday, April 30 for a book signing at Kevin Sbraga's Juniper Commons restaurant at the corner of Broad and South Streets, its neighbor. Starting at 6 p.m., Bryan and Doug will read, while Juniper Commons staff will pass hors d'oeuvres. Then everyone goes next door for ice cream.
Tickets are $50 and include a signed copy of the book. Info is here.
