Green Aisle's Erace brothers get a Food Network show
The South Philly grocers will appear on "Great American Food Finds," premiering Monday, Aug. 3 at 10:30 p.m.
South Philly brothers Adam and Andrew Erace will put themselves and their burgeoning chain of upmarket shops, Green Aisle Grocery, in the national spotlight this summer.
In its August programming notes, Food Network mentioned a new series called Great American Food Finds, premiering Monday, Aug. 3 at 10:30 p.m.
"With a sixth sense for the unexpected and delicious, brothers Adam and Andrew Erace travel the country in search of America's hidden food treasures to fill their family market's shelves. Whether it is a mac and cheese pie at the out-of-the-way farm stand, or the bacon-studded fudge brownies at the hole-in-the-wall bakery, the Erace brothers are on a mission to find it and put it on your plate."
Well!
Adam Erace, 31, doubles as restaurant critic for City Paper and writes for national magazines, while Andrew Erace, 29, has a background in real estate.
They pronounce their family name the old-country way - "eh-RATCH-ee."
In late 2009, they opened their first Green Aisle, a tiny shop with a selection of locally grown and organic fare, at 1618 E. Passyunk Ave. They opened a second location at 2241 Grays Ferry Ave. last year. Their third shop, in a former art gallery at 11 W. Girard Ave. in Fishtown, is due to open soon.
What's the show about? (Besides "about 30 minutes.")
No idea. Food Network says six episodes will be shown.
Both Eraces have been incommunicado, bound by nondisclosure agreements until Food Network gives the say-so.
