Kensington Quarters sets its opening

Kensington Quarters, the butcher shop, a meat classroom, restaurant and a bar under one roof at 1310 Frankford Ave. in Fishtown, is poised for Oct. 29.

Now how many restaurants can legitimately, proudly call themselves a meat market?

Kensington Quarters can and will. It's a butcher shop, a meat classroom, a restaurant and a bar under one roof, at 1310 Frankford Ave. in Fishtown.

It's just set its opening date: Wednesday, Oct. 29. Open Table should be up and running by Friday, Oct. 24.

Kensington Quarters is a partnership of Michael and Jeniphur Pasquarello, who own Cafe Lift, Prohibition Taproom and Bufad in the Loft District, and butcher Bryan Mayer.

What will be for dinner?

Among small plates from chef Damon Menapace, an alum of Osteria and Alla Spina:

Lamb sausage with collard greens, pig trotter and béchamel

Maitake mushroom with puff pastry, caramelized onion, blue cheese

"Starches, Grains and Greens":

Parsnip ravioli with lanchego and parsley

Carrot and radish salad with baby lettuces, honey sherry dressing and pistachio

Entrees:

Hake with escarole, pinto beans and celery root

Chicken roulade with grits, broccoli and mushroom
