Now open: Tela's Market & Kitchen on Fairmount Ave.
The corner of 19th Street and Fairmount Avenue has the shiny new Tela's Market & Kitchen (1833 Fairmount Ave., 215-232-4710), an artisanal grocery and cafe backed by developer Daniel Greenberg (who built the new building above it) and chef Chad Williams (ex-Amada, Chifa).
The corner of 19th Street and Fairmount Avenue now has the shiny (but lived-in-looking) Tela's Market & Kitchen (1833 Fairmount Ave., 215-232-4710), an artisanal grocery and cafe backed by developer Daniel Greenberg (who built the new building above it) and chef Chad Williams (ex-Amada, Chifa).
Tela (say it "TEE-lah") is Greenberg's beagle.
Canno Design's Gabrielle Canno and Carey Jackson Yonce - also behind the new Wishbone in University City and Taqueria Feliz in Manayunk - artfully and efficiently broke up a single, high-ceilinged space with seating (a series of lovely wooden tables), a center counter with prepared foods, fresh produce bins in the front window, refrigerators and freezer on the side wall, and a coffee counter (Four Barrel is the joe of choice) and meat/fish counters along the back wall.
Clean look: polished concrete floors, white subway tiles, white Carrara marble, reclaimed wood.
Here's the cafe menu.
Williams also will host a 12-seat, reservation-only weekly dinner table on Saturday nights.
Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
