Res Ipsa, whose name in Latin means "the thing itself" and is part of the legal term "Res Ipsa Loquitur" ("the thing speaks for itself"), is an all-day cafe opening Dec. 9 at 2218 Walnut St.
This is a spare Italian BYOB/coffeeshop hybrid owned by Tyler Akin of Stock and Mark Corpus and Mark Capriotti of ReAnimator Coffee.
It's cafe by morning and noon, with sitdown service and a more serious menu (focused on small plates and pasta) in the evening.

Cafe hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, while dinner is on from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday.
