Indeblue to close its Collingswood location
Last night of service will be Feb. 23.
Calling it a "very tough decision," Heather Ramola said she and her husband, Rakesh, will close the Collingswood location of their Indian restaurant, Indeblue, which opened in 2009 at 619 Collings Ave.
Last night of service will be Feb. 23.
"We do well there," she said, "but the building is in really bad shape and [the landlord] is selling it. We would have had to put a lot of money into it that was just not our responsibility."
The couple opened a branch, with a bar and liquor license, in early 2013 at 205 S. 13th St. in Center City Philadelphia. It garrnered two of four bells from Inquirer critic Craig LaBan.
After denying Collingswood's impending shutdown earlier this month, the Ramolas took to Facebook last week to announce it.
Reaction from customers was swift:
"Please don't close," one wrote. "I will literally give you my left leg so you can stay open😩"
The restaurant replied: "Please don't do that, no need to give up your leg. Our Philly location is right over the bridge, we welcome you with open arms!"
For the record, a meal at Indeblue does not cost an arm and a leg.
