The General opening at old General Lafayette Inn

The circa-1736 General Lafayette Inn (646 Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill) will get new life, perhaps by the end of July, as The General, an American restaurant with a sushi bar.
It won't be a brewpub. The new operators – Bob Devine and Nick Ciaffone, who are part-owners of the popular From the Boot restaurants – have removed the brewing equipment used in the previous two incarnations, Barren Hill Tavern & Brewery and General Lafayette Inn & Brewery.
They've retained the chef services of Michael DeLone, formerly of Center City's Le Castagne to execute what Devine says will be an affordable but quality American menu. Their sushi chef, whom Devine knows only as "Eric Sushi," will run the sushi bar.
Interior by Diana Schwartz will be "rustic with a contemporary edge," Devine says, maintaining the three-centuries-old feel.
