With Drexel University and UPenn walking distance from each other, University City not only attracts thousands of students, but it also is home to great restaurants and bars.

A student favorite, City Tap House University City is a great choice for those who have friends that dig craft beer, and those who just like the casual domestics. Monday through Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., all drafts are $2 off as well as $6 wine, and $7 cocktails. With 40 beer taps, you're certainly able to find something here. 

JG Domestic

Jose Garces' seasonal ingredient restaurant kicks happy hour off early at 3 p.m. with $4 beers, and $7 wines and cocktails. Besides the featured drink specials, the restaurant offers a wide selection of bites and eats, varying from small dishes like popcorn to larger plates like a burger. The happy hour is Monday through Friday and ends at 7 p.m. 

Local 44
(4333 Spruce St.)
Craft beer and bottle shop Local 44's happy hour is a beer fanatic's dream deal. From 5 to 7 p.m., their "Good Old Fashioned Happy Hour" on Monday through Friday features all local brews for $3, as well as appetizers priced from $3 to $4. On Mondays from 6 to 8 p.m., the bar hosts complimentary tastings from a specific brewery. 

Cavanaugh's University City

The local college and sports bar invites you and your pals to sit back and enjoy weekly deals such as $2.75 domestic drafts, $3.95 craft pints, and 25 percent off appetizers. New Deck Tavern

World Café Live

The music venue's second floor presents a super affordable happy hour featuring $2 Yuenglings, $4 Sam Adams, $5 well drinks, and more. Smokey Joe's

If you're new to UPenn and want to meet people, this local dive is a perfect place for you. Monday through Friday, the bar offers $2.50 domestics pints and $7.50 pitchers from 5 to 7 p.m.
